Pics.io Customer Stories: MT Solar
Company’s name: MT Solar
Founded: 2012
Headquarters: Charlo, Montana, US
Meet MT Solar, one of our customers making a real impact through their daily work. While many debate environmental challenges, MT Solar is actively creating a safer, brighter world by designing and manufacturing solar mounting structures for all types of solar modules. Their goal? To make solar installations quick and efficient, no matter the terrain.
All of MT Solar’s products are proudly made in the USA. In addition to their top-notch Pole and Ground Mount solutions, they’re committed to providing exceptional support throughout every step of the project.
We had the chance to chat with Mike Henderson, Brand Manager at MT Solar, about how they use the Pics.io DAM system in their daily operations. Read on to discover more about their journey and how we’re helping them streamline their workflow.
- First of all, can you tell us a bit more about your company and what you do?
At MT Solar, we’re all about making solar installations not just easier, but exceptional. From the moment customers start their design to the time they unpack and install the system, we aim to go beyond just meeting expectations. Customer service is a big deal for us, and we ensure our customers have support throughout the entire process, from start to finish.
All of our products are 100% made right here in the USA. Most of our clients are solar installers, who typically install the systems for their own customers, so we operate primarily as a B2B service. What makes it even more special is the community we’ve built. The solar installers we work with don’t just install our products—they take pride in their work and often share stories and photos with us.
- Great! Could you tell us a little bit about your role in the company? We noticed you joined in 2020, which was quite an interesting year.
Yeah, I actually worked with MT Solar as a client for nearly 10 years before they convinced me to join them in 2020. Now, I manage a small marketing team, and we focus on telling stories about the people who install our products and the unique ways they use them. Installers often share photos of their projects with us, which we post on social media. Pics.io has been incredibly helpful for organizing these photos, tagging features and installation details, and making it easier for my team to find the right images for blogs or social media posts.
Our sales team also uses Pics.io to find photos to share with customers who have questions. Since our product is made to order, each project is unique, so there are always questions about the installation process or how the product is used. Being able to tag and quickly find photos in Pics.io has been really beneficial for our sales team.
- How has your workflow changed since using Pics.io? Do you save time, or is it more about staying organized for your customers?
It’s both! Our customers send us photos, and our sales team uploads them to Pics.io. Sometimes, they tag the photos, but our marketing team also helps with that. When the sales team uploads images, marketing finds and uses them for various projects. Pics.io helps us keep everything organized, so our social media manager can easily find specific images or features to highlight. Our content writers also use it for emails, blogs, and website content. It’s a valuable tool for both sales and marketing. We’ve tried using the inbox feature to have customers upload photos directly, but most prefer email or whatever method is easiest for them.

- Was it easy for you to get started with Pics.io, or did it take some time to adjust?
At first, the challenge was figuring out how to organize everything, but once we had that in place, it became straightforward. I don’t think the learning curve was too steep for new users. It’s also great that Pics.io is built on Google Drive, so we can access the photos there if needed, but Pics.io is much more elegant and easier to use.
- Do you have any favorite features in Pics.io?
I really like being able to tag my team when I come across something interesting. The notifications are great, too. Whenever the sales team uploads new images or creates a folder, I get notified, so I always know when new content is available. The tagging and keyword features are super helpful for keeping everything organized.
- Is there anything about Pics.io that you’d like to change or improve?
Some of our team members have had a bit of trouble using it, but I’m not sure if that's a training issue. I don’t have much experience with other digital asset managers, so I can’t say for sure what might be missing. That said, improving integrations with WordPress and Adobe would be really useful.
- Well, that’s all the questions we have for you. Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with us!
